Mumford and sons are a British band formed in 2007, however it was not until 2013 when they completed their world tour for the Babel album in September 2013, which was their first proper break in almost five years. This band was formed by the four musicians: Marcus Mumford who is the main vocal, Ben Lovett, Winston Marshall and Ted Dwane. Among other features, this band is characterised by their traditional folk instruments such as the banjo, mandolin or the resonator guitar. An interesting point is that they began by using bluegrass and folk instrumentation, with the core instruments of acoustic guitar, banjo, piano and a double bass, that was played with a rhythmic style based on alternative rock and folk.
Much of Mumford & Sons’ lyrical content has a strong literary influence. This influence is perceived in their debut album Sigh No More with the song «Sigh no more, ladies, sigh no more» from Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, which quotes about six lines. The track «Sigh No More» includes lines from the play such as “Serve God love me and mend”. Another Shakespeare’s influence can be seen in the title of the song «Roll Away Your Stone», which is an allusion to one of Shakespeare’s most famous drama called Macbeth.

Mumford and sons son una banda británica que se formó en el 2007, pero no fue hasta el 2013 cuando alcanzaron su mayor éxito con el álbum Babel. Esta banda está compuesta por cuatro músicos entre los que están Marcus Mumford que es el vocalista, Ben Lovett, Winston Marshall and Ted Dwane. Algunas de las características de esta banda británica es la particular introducción de instrumentos folk tradicionales como es el banjo, la mandolina o el uso de la guitarra con resonador. Esta banda comenzó a usar bluegrass (un estilo de música folk) e instrumentos folk junto con instrumentos acústicos como la guitarra, el banjo, el piano, el bajo doble, tocado con un estilo rítmico basado en un rock y folk más alternativo.
El contenido lirico de este grupo musical tiene una gran influencia literaria. Esta influencia literaria se percibe en su álbum Sigh No More, concretamente en la canción “Sign no more, ladies, sigh no more” donde se puede observar la influencia de Shakespeare de su obra Much Ado About Nothing. Esta canción incluye líneas de la obra como “Serve God love me and mend”. Además, otra influencia de este autor del renacimiento es percibida en el título de la canción “Roll Away Your Stone” siendo una alusión a una de las más famosas tragedias de Shakespeare conocida como Macbeth.
